EdgewaYs is the new offering from singer-songwriter Helen Woodbridge, aka EllyTree. It is an album brimming with sharp observational lyricism and memorable melodies.
The 14 new tracks are diverse and highlight Helen’s imaginative storytelling skills. There are songs ranging from love, as on the poignant and reflective ’Tamarisk’  to Greek mythology, as on the haunting ‘Minotaur’. There are thought provoking songs on global warming, like the ’The Day it Rains Forever’. Then we have quirky songs like ‘Simmerdim’ replete with birdsong, and the fun-laden ‘Company’. The diverse and superb collection of songs hang together beautifully and make for a very strong album. It is the most enjoyable listening experience.
Helen is joined here by guest musicians Faradena Affifi (strings, Merlyn Bruce (percussion) and David Wright (percussion, drums, keys and voice).
