Quiet, slow-motion floating minimalism is one of the foundations in the music of Max Corbacho, explored in all of his previous albums. Connecting with that inexhaustible source of inspiration, A Connection to the Wonder reveals even more serene and gracious atmospheric interior spaces. Three long, deep sonic meditations make up Max Corbacho's new installment. Balanced carved resonations and dynamic sonic zones of transmutation, helping us to partake in an experience of beauty and honesty. Through his use of synthesizers and processors, Max's music connects with the magical reality of infinite moments in the present time, as the title states, "A Connection to the Wonder". The album travels on a mystical and revealing pilgrimage through immaterial layers of gracefully expansive synths and magmatic drones, that reach unfathomable depths, ending in a celestial journey of sweeping analog synth layers.

The new Mick Chillage album "Tides Of Melancholy" CD releases on Jan 3rd 2022 just on the first anniversary of Before & After Silence Recordings in late December 2021 and it will be the sixth CD on the label. The album consists of five Ambient pieces of varying lengths, three of which were composed in 2021. The three pieces I composed in 2021 seemed to fit within a particular emotive narrative and sonic aesthetic. I saw a connection with the piece “Footsteps In Fog '' track three which I had written after the passing of Harold Budd in 2020, strangely at the time of writing the piece I felt it could possibly be part of an album at some point.

Established, prolific sound artists Phillip Wilkerson and Chris Russell come together from different sides of ambient electronic music; whereas Wilkerson favors lighter passages, Russell favors the dark and abstract--yet these styles blend seamlessly on Dark Measures, their latest collaboration on Spotted Peccary Music. This new release retains the dreamlike atmosphere of their 2014 work Vague Traces while ferrying the listener to a more contemplative space. Russell describes Vague Traces as "a sunset album" and Dark Measures as "a nighttime adventure."

Composer and recording artist Forrest Fang refined his dynamic hybrid style of composition over the past four decades, expanding upon his roots in progressive music, minimalism, textural ambient, and the traditional musics of Asia. Drawing on his deep knowledge of sound creation and manipulation, he uses the studio like a separate instrument to create distinctive, alluring and otherworldly atmospheres. With captivating approaches to sound creation, his latest Projekt album Forever Cascades presents a series of intricately-layered sonic vignettes and impressionistic soundscapes inspired by shoreline walks over the last year. "Though my walks near the Bay were initially a way for me to clear my head," says Fang, "I also found myself drawn to the cycles and cadences of tides and aquatic life that shifted gradually from season to season. I was seeking a similar underlying cadence or pulse in these pieces that would evolve over time." The walk through sound returns to where it began with subtle changes in perceived time and space.

Charles Richards is a Royal College of Art Alumni exploring multidisciplinary themes. Founding Sonic Earth in 2017, the platform incorporates archival process, installation design and composition to reveal the potential of geological languages as vessels of sonic mystery. Working as an intermediary between the material and listener, Sonic Earth creates processed digital soundworlds composed directly through the internal resonances of extracted layers of the compressed landscape. “Each rock is a testament of time that encapsulates universe and Earth. For the Sonic earth project I am seeking ways to synthesize the sounds of rocks. Working from this 21st century standpoint to rewire new sonic perspectives and experiences through the library of geological time. Over the last few years this work has discovered and evolved new ways of recording to capture a true audial of each resonant body. Recording rock tableau from both my own travels and also with the opportunity to record from the archive within the Natural History Museum, London, I have amassed a number of material recordings. My recording process starts with a prepared mineral stylus that scores the surface of the material. Recording this with a piezzo electric contact mic, this long recording serves as the generator. The next stage is to play this recording back into the material via a vibrational surface speaker. This means that the material is vibrating to its own resonance and the surface noise is heard less and what you hear is a cleaner amplified version of the rocks resonance. From this recording you discover the unique nature of each material. Though captivating as it is I am able to further explore the material digitally. Each track in this album is made using one rock. Playing with pitch, time stretching, counterpoint, eq’s, filters etc I am able to bring all the different aspects of its language into a composition. Many musicians took to their craft as a means of solace during pandemic lockdowns by writing music for and of isolation. One such musician, Franck Zaragoza, who records as Ocoeur, took to his studio and composed pieces that came to him with a fluidity, making the lockdown a tad more bearable. However, this new album, Connections, was written with personal connections in mind, which Zaragoza focused on and strengthened during our collective confinement. As a result, Connections has a wondrous optimism yet still demonstrates the deep emotive vibrations and meticulous sound design that have resonated throughout his seven-album discography. Connections is Zaragoza at his finest, an amalgam of his soundtrack work, his discography thus far, and the influence of an unforeseen silver lining to the pandemic.
