  • Pre order the new album from The Church "The Hypnogogue" on CD and Double Vinyl. April 28th.

Brand new album by The Church, their first in 6 years! Presented in deluxe card gatefold sleeve CD and gatefold limited purple double vinyl LP. "While some may just want The Church to write another "Under the Milky Way", The Hypnogogue's title track is excellent. One of the most anticipated albums of 2023” - Brooklyn Vegan Treble Zine have named The Hypnogogue one of their most anticipated albums for 2023. "Let it first be said that the title track of The Hypnogogue, the first new album from The Church in six years, is one of the most breath-taking singles they’ve released in years, a darkly psychedelic six minutes that slowly spirals into a menacing descent. That alone is a reason to keep this one on your radar; the Australian neo-psych band have been going for over 40 years, with around a half dozen classic albums and zero bad ones, yet their ability to keep evolving and uncovering new aspects to their sound and approach only serves as a reminder of how vital they remain after four decades". • Kilbey Kennedy "The Strange Life of Persephone Nimbus"

First I'd like to thank all my customers for their support of this album. It's been by far my best selling release to date on both formats and all the pre orders of the Vinyl were finally shipped this week, so thank you for your patience in waiting for this release to roll out. I'd also like to thank Martin Kennedy in all his efforts in the promotion of the album and putting his faith in my store for bringing this album to you this side of the world. In a climate of struggle due to wars, megalomaniacs and the "same old story" it's refreshing to know that there are genuine musicians out there trying to put the world to rights through music. Not only that, but with little or no actual advertising other than the normal social channels it's quite a feat to get a following such as theirs. Personally I was only aware of their existence after the introduction of the "Inside we are the same" album. The more I listen to this album the better it gets, it's just pure class all the way through. It just hits the spot with so many attributes to various genres despite the "Floydian" influence, it holds together very well indeed. If you like your rock with a conceptual feel to it (this is part 2 by the way, Jupiter 13 was part 1) then you're in for an absolute treat. Steve's vocals provide the story in his own unique style while Martin provides much of the atmosphere and the two combined skill sets just launch this into classic territory. • New Hammock album "Love In The Void" on Double Vinyl and CD now in stock..

Breaking from the strange monotony and abnormal norms that took hold during two years of pandemic life, Hammock returns with "Love in the Void", an album that looks to the future, seizes the present, and unabashedly relishes the experiences and bonds that bring meaning to our days. Known for crafting orchestral works of stirring cinematic ambience, on "Love in the Void" the Nashville-based duo of Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson bring guitar-forward, heart-pounding urgency to songs that shout through and shatter the static of complacency. Since forming as Hammock in 2003, Byrd and Thompson have released 11 critically-acclaimed albums, and are renowned for their unique talent for bringing inexpressible emotion to life. The Covid-19 pandemic followed closely after one of Hammock’s career-defining works, the Mysterium, Universalis, and Silencia trilogy that chronicled the incomprehensible loss of Byrd’s 20-year-old nephew. At their homes and apart, Byrd and Thompson then recorded Elsewhere, an album of shimmering ambience that channeled alienated longing and displacement into avenues that gave way to worlds and possibilities yet realized. • GB3’s Glenn Bennie, of Underground Lovers, featuring Steve Kilbey "Sakura Flower" CD. ETA late Jan.

"GB3 is the side project for Underground Lovers co-founder Glenn Bennie, and today he has released his latest album, Sakura Flower. Glenn has teamed up again with Steve Kilbey of The Church, who has added the lyrics and vocals to these beautifully crafted pop songs infused with sparkling rivulets of electronica. This is their second album together, following on from 2010’s Damaged/Controlled. The album was recorded over a period of five years, between Sydney and Melbourne. It began in Glenn’s home studio, as he started to collate his ideas together: He describes the process: “The first stage of this album was in isolation (pre-lockdown)…experimenting with sounds, riffs and melodies. I was getting to know my new recording equipment and naively piecing together ideas. Through a process of editing and refining, and then through the contribution of Steve (and others), the songs took on new structures and meaning as each layer was added…I always wanted this album to have the feel and simplicity of a home recording. Every component was created in someone’s bedroom or spare room…from recording, to mixing, to mastering…it’s the way of the world now with recording I suppose but the similarities to my early development in recording to cassette tapes was a nice parallel that I used as inspiration. Steve’s own early solo recordings (especially Earthed) were a big influence on me too, with their DIY aesthetic’." THE AU REVIEW

  • Vangelis "Blade Runner" 25th Anniversary 3CD Boxset edition.

Well all good things come at Christmas and this Boxset is no exception. I've been a Vangelis fan since the release of the film which was how I came about hearing about this Meastro of electronic music at 14 odd years old. Bearing in mind there was no internet back then it was through word of mouth or pure chance that you knew about "other" music, or searching through record shops. No CDs back then either! I need not say how much atmosphere this album holds and I only have a few of these in stock in anycase, but it's one of the iconic soundtracks from the early 80's when Sci-Fi started to get alot darker in the main stream cinema. I have managed to obtain a few copies for those of you out there that havn't seen the film or heard the soundtrack, particularly the younger generation, born after the event. Atari was at it's peak and arcade machines were raking in 10p's by the bucket. Yes that's how old I am... This 3 CD Boxset is sealed as new. £19.99
